Montemor-o-Velho e Gatões (Montemor-o-Velho)
Barca, renamed by the Estado Novo with the pompous name of Casal Novo do Rio, is located about 2 km from the remarkable town and county seat, Montemor-o-Velho, and also a few meters from Poço da Cal, the abandoned bed of the Mondego river and the Nautical Centre, now called the High Performance Centre. One of the most important sports complexes, of its kind, nationally and internationally.
And being a charismatic place for being riverside - it should be noted that it was even more so when the Poço da Cal and the Mondego River intersected and refreshed each other for hundreds of years - and, for better or for worse, they became inseparable and offered Barca an incredible sandy beach that today would be called a river beach. One of the best fishing grounds in the country, concessioned by Hidráulica to the Clube Desportivo de Pesca de Coimbra, coincidentally watched over by my grandfather, David Camarneiro, a retired railroad worker who moved with my grandmother from Alfarelos to here and became the face and guardian of it. For years, great river sport fishing contests were held there, to which hundreds of fishermen from all over the country flocked there, not only for the centrality, proximity to the Alfarelos station and the Montemor halt..., not only for the beauty, fame of the place, abundance, quality and size of carp, barbels, pimpões, redheads, eels and bogas that were caught there, but above all for benefiting from waters daily renewed by the Mondego on its permanent path towards Figueira da Foz.
Who also benefited with merit from all this hustle and bustle, was Mr. Manuel Marinheiro and Mrs. Olinda, owners of the grocery store, tavern, Marinheiro restaurant, who became illustrious for lamprey rice and other river fish dishes, whose fame attracted and still attracts many people to the now Casal Novo do Rio.
The place maintains the mystique and every year a party of the "Boatmen" is held there, and now the Barracão do Sal rehabilitated by the Parish Council is a symbol of the local community, a museum space evocative of its former owner, Alberto Bicho, my uncle by affinity, who received the salt transported by the Mountain Barges that went up the Mondego from Figueira da Foz to Penacova, I unloaded it and stored it in the aforementioned shed and sold it, transported in a cart of a single cow all over the valley of the Mondego and Gândaras, and it is imperative to say that all these labors reported were witnessed by me, exactly, on the same street as the 3 houses and the land that this text intends to serve as inspiration to the hypothetical buyers, after all, because, despite the implications arising from the diversion of the Mondego River for almost four kilometers from the place, the fall of the iron bridge and the disappearance of the sand, Barca managed to resist and benefit from all these ill-fated events, namely, the construction of a new bridge, the rehabilitation of the Barracão do Sal and the proximity to the Nautical Center, I admit that a new municipal executive can benefit the place and make it even more unique and attractive.
Now, after all this prose that sometimes resembles poetry, let's move on to what brings us here, that is, the presentation of 4 properties located precisely in Rua da Barca, ready to be rebuilt, individually or together, that is:
Hypothesis 1: one, two or 3 houses on the ground floor and 1st floor, type T2 or T3 with or without garage Hypothesis 2: one, two or three T3 houses without garage Hypothesis 3: one, two or three T3 houses, with garages on rear land that can be purchased, included in the business and divided by all houses, allowing the construction of annexes and garages Hypothesis 4: Closed condominium of three 3 bedroom villas, garages on the rear plot with about 1300m2, which can be acquired and divided by all the houses and which will allow the construction of annexes and garages. Price for those who buy everything: 150000€.! Note: the houses are only with the walls in the air and can start construction immediately.
