The Lake: The connection of Alqueva to Monte da Rocha was announced in February 2018, in Beja, by the then ministers of Agriculture and Environment, Capoulas Santos and João Matos Fernandes, respectively.
The project, scheduled for 2022->, is the result of a partnership between the Alqueva Development and Infrastructure Company (Edia) and the Águas de Portugal group, through AgdA. This will guarantee the sustainability and water level of lake for the future.
