Located in one of the quietest areas of Faias, and set in a plot with 4,000 sqm of land, this house built in the 1950s keeps the original design of the building intact.
It was completely renovated between 1989 and 1991 and in 2012, and an effort was made to keep as many of the original materials as possible. For example, the interior doors, the original kitchen window, the flooring on the upper floor, some of the material from the roof structure, the well, the tank, the mangers, the bench at the entrance (the old porch)... All prevailed.
The plan shown in the photos is the original plan of a house from Nucho das Faias. Today, the interior of the rooms has been slightly altered, but the exterior has remained unchanged, with the exception of the addition of a window that serves the current kitchen.
As we enter the main building, we find the hall of about 6 sqm (former porch), with the original bench. Moving to the left, we enter a 17 sqm living room (former kitchen), which leads us to the first floor bedrooms and the bathroom, this one complete with shower (the old support and bucket used by the first settlers for showering have been kept in this room).
We return to the entrance hall and head to the former "covered" area, which has been divided into two rooms, the first being the current kitchen of the house, measuring 16 sqm, with wooden furniture and tiled walls. The second room, which could be used as a dining room, has access to the outside of the front of the house (east), as well as to the back yard (west), and is very bright due to the glazed structure used to close the original (larger) arch that can be seen on the main elevation. Also part of this room is the staircase leading to the upper floor (the former "hayloft"), where we find a hall and two bedrooms.
The next room (the former stable) was transformed into the main living room of the house. Here, the mangers have been kept, recalling their former usefulness. A stove was installed for heating and the ceiling was covered with pine wood.
