About The Area
Situated in what is called the garden of the Algarve, Marmelete is a village of around 800 people, a scenic drive from both Caldas de Monchique and Aljezur. Known for cork production, beekeeping, and the black Iberian pig, the area sustains itself with wild fruits, berries, and vegetables.

Off-Grid Living
Water
The water comes from a spring. The current owner uses an elevated water system with natural pressure from the height differences and several deposits to filter the water. On the hill at the level of the Tipi, there is a 1.000 liter watertank from where the water goes to the house. The 20.000 liter water deposit next to the house is filled with the tube that overflows the water from the system.
There is also a stream at the lowest level of the land which could be used for irrigation.
Sewage
There is no sewage infrastructure made yet. The wastewater from the kitchen is connected to a temporary tube that goes into nature. The following step in the project for a new owner would be the bathroom and to install a septic tank at the lower terrace located next to the entrance road.
Electricity
The electricity cable network is approximately 1.5 km away, the property currently operates without a full solar system. A small solar system on the van is being used for light and charging batteries.
