Completely renovated ´Marie Elisabeth cottage´ with courtyard in Ferragudo

The now defunct fish factory produced the world-famous canned Marie Elisabeth sardines from 1904. The factory also comprised the cottages across the street, where the most important workers were allowed to live. With inspiration and creativity, this corner house has been transformed into a gem that will continue to be of value to Ferragudo for the next 100 years. The cottage with a gross floor area of 78 m2 has two bedrooms. The living room and both bedrooms, whose high ceilings follow the high insulated roof, are connected to the almost 40 m2 patio with a plunge pool. The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped. The storage cupboard at the kitchen houses the hot water supply and a washing machine. All installations are new. For potential air conditioning in the living room and both bedrooms, the pre-installation is in place. You can furnish the house to your own taste, after which it will be ready for occupation.

During renovation, the traditional 60 cm thick outer walls and the roof with its wooden rafters were preserved. Part of the roof construction was exposed in the living room. The roof has been insulated. The appearance of the front facade with two doors (one to the living room and one to the patio) and a window is unchanged. The big change and added value is that, unlike what used to be common here, there is now plenty of daylight entering the house. Of course, all water and electricity installations have been renewed.

The car can be parked at the back of the house at about 100 metres walking distance. A footpath leads to the house, which can be accessed via the door to the patio or the front door that opens into the 20 m2 living room. The living room has a large sliding door to the patio. The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped. Behind a sliding door is a storage room, which also houses the hot water heater and washing machine.
The kitchen continues one step down into a corridor connecting the bathroom with walk-in shower and the two bedrooms. Plenty of daylight enters the corridor via a small outdoor patio. Both bedrooms are connected by exterior doors to the patio with the plunge pool. One bedroom has its own sink, shower and toilet.

At the back of the house, behind the outer wall, there is a 3-metre-wide plot of land measuring about 5 metres in length. This offers future possibilities to create a storage room here or to extend the house.
