Manor House in historic area

In the area of the Castle of Alcácer do Sal arises this manor house with the best aerial view over the houses of the Sado river, the mountains and the rice fields.

It is a historic building of the sixteenth century, having belonged to the Order of Santiago, which was administered at the time by the king D. João III.

It was a Church, being later the seat of the Parish Council (Nossa Senhora da Consolação - Our Lady of Consolation), having belonged at that time to the bishopric of Évora, where the bishop was the Cardinal Infante D. Henrique.
It then went through several phases, having come to our days as belonging, and once residence, of one of the best known families of the city.
