The 'Solar do mal abrigo', whose construction dates back to the 18th century has been rebuilt and renovated and is classified as Housing Tourism.
Considered one of the most emblematic houses in the middle Tejo, not only for its beauty, but also for its unusual architectural style. Today, the house is dedicated to rural tourism and event organization, and in its third century of existence, receives tourists from all over the world.
Former morgadio that was the agricultural and logistical center of a vast heritage in the area of the municipality of Abrantes. It suffered works in practically all the centuries, until in 1924, the consecrated architect Silva Pinto gives him the design that we know today. The Solar is part of a primitive foundational nucleus called Quinta de Santo António of the Caldeira de Mendanha family, whose family origin dates back to the 15th century with Vicente Themudo Caldeira.
The Solar has a large lounge (106 m2), library, chapel, games room, 6 bedrooms, 4 apartments, kitchen and pantry, office, function room (in the basement). All rooms have air conditioning, heating and a private bathroom, and the annexes also have a kitchen.

The original floor of the chapel is made of square stone from the region and the entrance dates from 1811, proving restoration works carried out. The main devotion present in the chapel is S. João.
