'Herdade do Falcoeiro' has an area of about 528 hectares and is located in the Region of Évora, 2 hours from Lisbon. Its formation and existence is due to the need for an integrated management of the various branches of business that develop there, namely the exploitation of cattle breeding, tourist hunting reserve, wine-growing and some cork.
The greater part of the area of the estate is destined to the creation of cattle with an effective superior to 200 animals. It has all the conditions to increase the effective to more than double.
Approximately 100ha of clean area are available, suitable for the implementation of vineyards, super-intensive olive groves, almond trees, etc. There is a high capacity dam and several dams, always providing water even in the most critical periods. It also has access to water from the Alqueva Dam.
It has a vineyard with irrigation, with about 25ha, with 21ha red varieties (Aragonez, Trincadeira, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon) and 4ha white varieties (Antão Vaz and Viognier). The varieties are duly separated in different stands .
The winery is recent and modern, with about 2.500m2 of construction area. It has a basement with 600m2 for wine stage in French and American oak barrels. It has a production capacity of about 500,000 bottles / year 0.75L. Due to the infrastructural capacity, there is a possibility of a substantial increase in production, if necessary. It has its own treatment system for tributaries.
The wines are divided into 3 distinct ranges, with whites and reds, in 'Range of Entry', 'Premium Range' and 'Super-Premium Range' and obtained diverse awards, gold medals and honorable reviews expressed in the wine guides .
It is also integrated in this project, a space with 550m2 of Regional architecture, with complementary ambitions to the wine production, within the scope of wine tourism, where it is possible to taste the wines in the cradle of its production, providing a hall with capacity to receive groups and enjoy guided visits to the winery and vineyard.
There are two Alentejo mounts, one main one, consisting of a ground floor house of 600m2 with 4 suites + 3 bedrooms, lounge with 100m2, 3 bathrooms, office, storage room and kitchen with wood oven. The entire attic area is also habitable, house of the housekeepers with 3 rooms. The other Alentejo mount is further away, consisting of 3 houses physically separated, that support the tourist hunt. There is also a warehouse for agricultural machines with about 1000 m2.
It is worth noting the potential in the dynamization of the various aspects of the business and the careful way the whole estate is treated, being nowadays self-sufficient, presenting profit at the end of the year, as can be easily verified in the balance sheets.
