Herdade de Serpa is an aggregate originally of 7 estates, each with individual building permits, brought together over the years to cover an extensive 1,150 Hectares of rural land. Located south of Serpa the estate sits inside of the Natural Guadiana Valley Park, and indeed is bordered for approximately 8km by the Guadiana River, which helps contribute much of the water needed to sustain this agricultural land. This source has been enhanced by 20 dams and gives added potential to the touristic aspects of the land.
Established from 1985 the land was originally acquired as a place of leisure for the owners and as such no major or intensive exploration was carried out, however over the years various activities became established, supporting local communities and generating income including touristic hunting, raising livestock and forestry, which cover 77 Ha of corktree, olive, holmoaks and eucalyptus. Flora and fauna are very important to the character of this estate and the touristic hunting thrives on the abundance of partridge, rolas, wild duck, rabit, hare, boar and deer endemic to the area.
Spread across the estate are several properties, the main mount is over 300m2 built, the hunting lodge can cater for meetings of 120 members, there is a housekeepers lodge, workshops that provide warehouses, secure machinery, offices and livestock support. There are several more scattered around, some have been refurbished others in need of attention, but each with its building permit.
This opportunity has a massive amount of potential, not only by developing some of the existing activities but by exploring new possibilities with the increased appeal of rural tourism. Further details are available on request subject to client registration.
